Description

Well, werecarrot, you said I could take some artistic liberties with whatever I chose and I hope that I did not take those liberties too far. I think I might have. But god I hope it still retains some features of your original idea because, damn, it is a good one.

This is werecarrot's Cellar, a monstrous nightmare of a rabbit spider (which, if you ask me, is far more terrifying than just a giant spider) chimera that dwells in basements or, if those aren't creepy and dark enough, subcellars. He produces a nice constant stream of thick darkness from openings in his skull so I thought it would be good to make it look as though that's sort of creating the blackness behind him.

This is for my trade with werecarrot, and PLEASE take a gander at her half here.

Tidbit: The place in this image is heavily influenced by a real place. When I was interning with the University of Utah's paleontology department I worked for hours in the collections in the basement of an old library that was converted into UMNH. And I tell you, if you visit, ask to have a tour of collections and casually detour to the never-ending basement tunnel. The door that led to it while I was taking a break and I opened it to have a peek inside. To the right was a long, dark tunnel of concrete, and when I beamed a flashlight into it the blackness seemed to swallow all the light rays whole. There was no end and I discovered in time that the door would lock if it closed behind you.

Salt Lake City is full of bizarre. If you go there, go to the Crossroads mall, hit up the second level and sneak into the big metal access doors just off the elevator nearest 1st (100) South. Go in to another set of doors that lie ahead and go in and you'll see stairs — not just any stairs, but normal stairs with, I swear, another set of stairs that leads to....nowhere. I know this sounds completely mundane but it looks like a living Escher painting.
